So, I happened to watch this movie District 9. I loved the rendition of Gollum in Lord of the Rings, and so I had to see an "alien movie, where Peter Jackson had some money thrown in", and I had some expectations to the visual aspects, but none in particular to the story.
I went, I saw, and I died. Multiple times.
The visual impact, the story and its implementation were just massive. To be fair, I have to say that a couple of days before I saw the movie, I demonstrated against, what I felt was a very brutal removal of Iraqi refugees from the Brorsons Kirken, a church in Copenhagen. I did *not* laugh at all at the first screening of District 9, because the Brorsons Kirken incident just was too close. The humour of District 9 grew on me later though ;)
And so I had myself a new fandom. I went to assorted fandom places and happened to read a fanfiction by a person, who calls herself Dreamerchaos on various networks. She writes slash fiction, and her favourite pairing is Christopher/Wikus, Which in itself is no special occurrence, the special thing about her was, that she was able to write in a way, so I had images running in front of my inner eyes; much like the Precogs threw pictures on the ceiling in the movie The Minority Report. I would switch off all light in my room, and it felt that Dreamerchaos' writing was flickering on my ceiling. The last time I had felt such an impact by someone, was when I had my first issue of Elfquest in my hands, and the result you see in the Black Moon Dôjinshi. So, after nine years I had the same feelings again. And I started to wildly draw the Dreamerchaos story, that hit home with me the fiercest:
"Leave and Forget".
TL;DR:
It's a D9 fan comic. Story by Dreamerchaos.
